Features: Unique one-of-a-kind design Handmade by village weavers in northern Afghanistan 100% Wool pile and pure vegetable dyes Knot count of 180 per square inch Pile height of 0.25 inches Colors include red, ivory, navy, tan, blue, and green Story Behind the Art: This rug was made by Afghan village weavers who recreate the original Farahan design using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each rug is hand-knotted in their own homes where they wash, spin, and dye the wool themselves prior to weaving. Due to the handmade nature of this rug, the size may vary from the advertised size by 3-4 inches. Weaving rugs also benefits the local community as wool sales benefit local farmers, and local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.
