Herat Oriental Handmade One-of-a-Kind Khal Mohammadi Belgian Wool Rug
Description
This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. Khal Mohammadi rugs are characterized by their usually coppery-colored fields and highly lustrous finish, as well as neat and tidy appearance. Khal Mohammadi rugs are named after Mr. Khal Mohammed, who was the originator of the dyes made to create the beautiful coppery colors used in these rugs. The knot count per square inch for this rug is 200. The pile height is 0.25 inches. The rugs are made of belgian wool, as well as 100% vegetable dyes . Colors include red, navy, beige, brown and olive. Story Behind the Art: These rugs are made in the Northern part of Afghanistan by the Turkoman weavers, mostly made by Khal Mohammed family and the village weavers. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Iran. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected.
