Features: Handmade by village weavers in the Northern part of Afghanistan Made of 100% wool with pure vegetable dyes Geometric pattern in shades of red, gray, navy, gold, beige and green Knot count of 180 ensures its durability for years to come Adds a touch of world art to your home Story Behind the Art: This particular kilim was woven by village weavers in the province of Balkh located in the Northern part of Afghanistan. Kilims are known as pile-less, flat-weave floor coverings, which are achieved by interweaving various colors of the vertical and horizontal strands of the kilim. Due to the handmade nature of our kilims, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your kilim looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
