Description
You always knew that your son would see the world, you just didn't realize that he'd be going back in time and travel across the Atlantic on a wooden, wind-powered, stinking ship with the Virginia Company. Well, it's a good thing you let your young son go along with the company because he will turn out to be one of the only ones on the three ships that set out for the new world with any sense. Must be that modern sensibility he brought along. John Smith was well qualified to explore and map out the new land in which the Europeans were trying to eke out a living. In his younger years was captured and sold as a slave in the middle east after fighting for the Austrians. When he escaped he found his own way through to northeastern Europe to Poland and back to England. That's all to say that this guy had a pretty good sense of direction. When he got to Jamestown John Smith used his experience to explore the Chesapeake Bay waterways, creating a map that was invaluable to the British. So, your kid has some pretty big cartographer boots to fill. This costume will get him in that serious Virginia Company mood. Wearing this foam "armor" vest with silver buttons down the middle, your boy will fit right in with the British settlers. His pouch can fit all his map making equipment, or maybe he should just bring a GPS, it'll save him some work. Just add a beard and your kid will be ready to make a name for himself. Maybe he can drop a hint to the Virginia Company while he's at it: they aren't going to find any gold.
