Description
The iconic Haapsalu scarf or Haapsalu shawl is a hand knitted lace shawl that originated in the seaside resort town of Haapsalu, Estonia (formerly known as Hapsal) during the early 19th century. A desired souvenir and gift among the Russian aristocrats, including the Romanov family, who frequented Haapsalu - the Haapsalu Scarf remains a timeless classic to this day and is considered a heirloom item rich in history and savoir-faire. The Haapsalu Scarf is hand made in Haapsalu by our master artisans who knit the shawls so fine that the scarf can be pulled through a lady's wedding ring. One scarf takes two weeks time in creation. 100% merino wool. 100% Merino Wool The Haapsalu Shawl is hand washed in lukewarm water using wool-laundering detergant. Squeeze gently. Do not twist or felt. Still wet shawl is framed. If you do not have the frame, let it dry over a bed or carpet covered with white sheet by stretching the shawl from each pointed edge using stainless pins. While pinning make sure the pattern is straight. Let it dry properly.
