Do not tumble dry. Steam Iron. What to consider before you wash linen clothes? Supposing there is a stain on your linen garment, pre-treat it before washing. We recommend the home solution of baking soda and white vinegar only. We always recommend that you check the care instructions on the label on linen garments before you wash your linen clothing. In addition, it is essential to remember that linen is a natural fibre, and as such, it can shrink 5% after washing. However, if you steam iron your garment, you most likely won’t notice the changes. How to wash and dry your linens? Linen is a strong fabric that becomes softer with wear and washes. Most linen can be washed in the machine; however, use a gentle cycle or wash by hand in a cool setting. Do not crowd the washing machine with too many items at once to allow your garments to soak up the water properly. Also, make sure that any other items in the washing machine are similar to your linen clothes in terms of colour, weight and washing instructions. Always wash your linen inside out to prevent the surface fibres from breaking but if you hand-wash your linen clothes, only use a gentle swishing motion but never wring, twist or scrub the fabric. Does linen shrink? Yes, it does, especially if you wash it in too hot temperatures (above 30C is not recommended). Avoid tumble-drying your linen. We suggest line drying your linen on a hanger as soon as possible after washing. Reshape and iron your garment inside and whilst damp, which will reduce creasing. We love the natural wrinkles in linen fabric, but if you like to iron your linen clothes, make sure they are still damp before you start. Treat your linen clothes well, and they will keep on looking fabulous for years to come, making them a sustainable alternative to fast fashion fads. Whether they can be machine washed and tumble dried or need more gentle care, linen clothes get softer with every wash.
